What's on this sheet
Each problem draws two small groups of the mascot's favorite picnic treasure — apples, fish, carrots — and the child counts them all to find the sum. Because the tokens are right there to touch and tally, addition stays concrete: three apples and two apples are five apples, not an abstract fact to memorize. Sums stay at ten or below so nothing on the page is too crowded to count.

- Both groups are there to be counted, and counting all of them from 1 is what most people do first. There is a shorter way that also works when the numbers get too big to draw.
- Hold 7 in your head and count the other 3 on from there, instead of going back to 1.
- 7, then 8, 9, 10 — 10.
