A simple way through percents

The most useful thing a child can learn about percent is that it is not a new kind of number. Forty-five percent is forty-five hundredths is 0.45 — the same value written three ways, alongside the fraction 45/100. Once that clicks, converting is just moving the decimal point two places: to a percent the point goes right, back to a decimal it goes left.

Why this order works

Finding a percent of a number is the everyday skill — discounts, tips, test scores, sales tax. The worksheets keep the numbers friendly so the answers land whole (25% of 80 is 20), which lets a child practice the reasoning without getting lost in arithmetic. A quarter, a tenth, and a half are the anchors everything else leans on.
