Each sheet assumes the one above it is comfortable. Start where your child is, not at the top.How division develops
Division also means two different things, and children benefit from meeting both. Sharing: twelve cookies shared fairly between three friends — how many each? Grouping: twelve cookies packed four to a bag — how many bags? Both are 12 ÷ 3 and 12 ÷ 4 on paper, but a child picturing only one of them will misread half the word problems they meet.
The fastest route to division fluency is the fact family. 3 × 4 = 12 carries 12 ÷ 3 = 4 and 12 ÷ 4 = 3 with it; a child who knows their multiplication facts already knows their division facts and mostly needs practice recognizing that. Every problem on these sheets is generated from a multiplication fact for exactly that reason.
Remainders are deliberately left out at this stage. They are a real and necessary topic, but mixing them in while a child is still building the inverse relationship turns a clean idea into a muddy one. Whole-number answers keep the focus on what division is before what division does when it does not come out even.
