DivisionFocus ÷2
Dividing by 2 worksheets
Dividing by 2 is just halving, the friendliest place to start division. If your child can share a pile of cookies fairly between two picnic plates, they already know these facts. These free printable worksheets cover 2 ÷ 2 through 20 ÷ 2.
Kid stuck on one? You don’t just get the sheet.

What's on this sheet
Every even number splits cleanly in half, and that is the whole skill here. 18 ÷ 2 asks the same question as half of 18, which is 9. Only even numbers appear, so there is never a leftover to worry about.
Why this sheet works
Reading the fact backwards makes it stick: 18 ÷ 2 = 9 because 2 × 9 = 18. Halving and doubling are the same family seen from two sides. Lock a page to the divisor 2 and your child sees nothing but that pattern until it feels automatic.
How this one works
One question from this sheet, worked through a step at a time.
12 ÷ 2
- 12 ÷ 2 means sharing 12 out equally between 2. Deal them round one at a time until they run out; the answer is how many end up in one share.
- Dealing out 12 one at a time works, and takes all day. The shortcut is the same fact read backwards: 2 shares of WHAT makes 12?
- 2 × 6 = 12. That is the one, so 12 ÷ 2 = 6.
- Worth checking, because it costs one multiplication: 6 × 2 = 12. It matches, so the answer holds.
