About this sheet
Eleven to twenty is where tracing stops being about shapes and starts being about place value, even though nobody says the words yet. Every number in the teens is a 1 followed by something, and writing them in a row is the first time a child sees that the left-hand digit is doing a different job than the right-hand one. It is worth pointing at while they trace — not explaining, just noticing.
Why it is drawn this way
The teens are also where most tracing sheets quietly go wrong, because two-digit numbers need spacing and a font-based sheet does not give them any. Each digit here is positioned off its own measured ink edges, so the GAP between the two is constant at about 11% of the cap height — the usual side-bearing pair in a text face. Set on a fixed advance instead, "10", "12", "14" and "17" overlap outright and the rest clear each other by under 1.5 units, which reads as touching.
