About this sheet
Writing a 7 and knowing what seven is are two different skills, and a tracing sheet usually teaches only the first. Here the number sits beside seven things to count, so the shape a child is tracing is tied to a quantity they can point at, and the word under it — seven — is the name they say while they count.
Why it is drawn this way
The pictures are laid out in rows of five, the ten-frame's own grouping, so seven reads as five and two before it is counted one by one. Past ten they are ten-frames: a full one and a part one, because fourteen is a ten and four and the frame is how that is shown. Each page counts a different thing — apples, stars, acorns, rockets — so twenty pages are not twenty of the same picture.
