What's on this sheet
When the denominators match, you add the numerators and keep the denominator: one sixth plus two sixths is three sixths, because three sixth-sized pieces are simply three pieces. The bottom number names the size of each piece, and putting pieces together does not shrink them, so it stays exactly as it was. The commonest early slip is adding the two bottoms as well — that changes the piece size and breaks the sum.
Why this sheet works
The last move is to simplify. Three sixths is correct, but it is not finished when one half says the same thing, so every sum is reduced to lowest terms. The generator keeps the pieces the same size on every question and lets some answers simplify while others already sit in lowest terms, and results stay proper fractions — nothing that spills past a whole, and no mixed numbers on these pages.
