The answer key prints on a separate page.
What's on this sheet
The reason is worth saying out loud at least once. To share 3 pizzas among 4 people, cut each pizza into 4 pieces and give everyone one piece of each. Everyone ends up with 3 pieces of size 1/4, which is 3/4 of a pizza. So 3 ÷ 4 is not a sum that has no answer, it is a number, and it has been a fraction all along.
Why this sheet works
Some of the divisions here have a bigger first number, like 7 ÷ 4. That one equals 7/4, which is more than one whole, and it is a useful place to connect back to improper fractions and mixed numbers. The questions are the same kind of thing either way.
How this one works
