Area of figuresEvery figure
Find the area. Lengths are in cm; the dashed line is the height.
Past the rectangle, area means knowing which measurement is the height. These free printable worksheets cover triangles, parallelograms, and trapezoids, with the perpendicular height drawn as a dashed line.

The one mistake this standard is about is using a slant side as the height, so the figures never label a slant side at all. The height is dashed and carries a right-angle mark where it meets the base, which is a picture that answers "which number is h?" honestly rather than leaving it to be guessed.
A parallelogram uses exactly the arithmetic its rectangle would, which is the whole reason it is taught this way — and exactly why a child who measures the slant edge gets a number that is too big. Mixing the four figures on one sheet is the hardest setting, because deciding which formula applies comes before applying it.
