The region is shaded rather than outlined, and that is the one visual difference from the perimeter sheets. It is doing real work: perimeter is a question about the edge and area is a question about the inside, and the picture should not be silent about which one is being asked. A child who has both sheets in front of them can tell at a glance which is which.
The side lengths stay inside the times tables. A rectangle of 27 by 33 is a two-digit multiplication drill with a diagram on it, not an area question, so the levels here stop where the arithmetic would take over from the geometry.
