Ten more than forty-seven is the first time a child changes a digit without counting. These free printable worksheets give a two-digit number with a blank ten either side of it, so the tens digit moves and the ones digit stays exactly where it was.

What's on this sheet
Each row jumps by ten. One number is printed and the blank sits ten before it, ten after it, or between two numbers twenty apart, so a child has to read which way the gap goes rather than repeating one move.
Why this sheet works
The number a child reasons from is always two-digit, which is what the skill is about — forty to fifty is a fact most already have, and forty-seven to fifty-seven is the one worth practising. Ten less than twelve is two, so an answer can be smaller than that.
