A grade 5 grid has its corner at the origin and everything on it is positive. A grade 6 grid has the origin in the middle, and where a point sits is now told by the SIGNS of its pair. These free printable worksheets are the same four labelled points on the second kind of plane.

What's on this sheet
Every grid on these sheets spans at least three quadrants. That is checked rather than hoped for: a page whose points all happen to be positive is a first-quadrant sheet printed on bigger paper, and a child can answer the whole thing without ever deciding a sign. With three quadrants in play the sign is a decision on every question.
Why this sheet works
Four points share one plane, labelled A to D, because finding B on the same axes you just found A on is the thing being practiced. Four separate small grids would be four pictures of the same plane with the practice taken out.
How this one works
Point A
- Start at the corner where the two lines meet — that is (0, 0), and every reading begins there.
- Along the bottom FIRST: count -6 across. Always this one before the other, because until you have gone along you do not know which line to go up.
- Then up: count 1. Now the two numbers have been used in the order they are written.
- So point A is (-6, 1) — -6 across, then 1 up. (1, -6) would be a different point altogether.
