Multiplication and division facts worksheets

Multiplication and division are one fact family read from two ends, and a page that mixes them is where a child shows they know it. These free printable worksheets interleave times-table facts with their matching division facts, and every answer is a whole number.

What's on this sheet

24 ÷ 6 takes one step for anyone who knows that 6 × 4 = 24, and takes considerably longer for anyone who has learned the six times table as a chant. Mixing the two operations is what tells those two states apart, because a chant only runs forwards and a division question asks for it backwards.

Why this sheet works

Nothing here leaves a remainder. That matters for more than tidiness: when every answer comes out even, an odd-looking result is a signal worth stopping on rather than something to shrug at, which is what makes the page usable for checking as well as for practice.

How this one works

One question from this sheet, worked through a step at a time.

4 × 1

4×1
1 + 1 + 1 + 1=4
4×1=4
  1. 4 × 1 means 4 groups with 1 in each one — 4 rows of 1. The answer counts everything in all of them, not one row.
  2. 4 groups with one in each: 1 + 1 + 1 + 1. Adding a pile of ones is just counting them, so 4 × 1 = 4.
  3. So 4 × 1 = 4.
