What's on this sheet

One place per sheet keeps the focus clear: choose the nearest 10, 100, or 1000, and every number on the page rounds to that place, so a child practises one decision many times instead of juggling three at once. The rule is the one taught in class — look at the digit to the right of the place you are rounding to, and if it is 5 or more, round up; if it is 4 or less, round down.

Why this sheet works

The numbers are chosen so there is always real work: nothing is already sitting on the place it rounds to, and the tricky halfway cases (a 5 in the deciding spot) turn up on purpose, because knowing that 5 rounds up is the heart of the skill. Answers are exact whole numbers, so this is one of the sheets a child can also do on the practice page, not only on paper.
