What's on this sheet
The method is identical to the shorter sheets, carried out four times: multiply the bottom digit by the ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands, passing each carry along. 2431 × 6 runs six ones is six, six threes is eighteen — write 8, carry 1, six fours plus one is twenty-five — write 5, carry 2, six twos plus two is fourteen, giving 14,586. Notice that a four-digit number times a single digit can spill into the ten-thousands, so the answer often has five digits.
Why this sheet works
With no new idea to learn, the difficulty is entirely in staying tidy. A carry dropped four columns in, or a digit that drifts out of its column, is the usual cause of a wrong answer here — not the arithmetic itself. That makes 4-digit-by-1-digit good practice for the discipline the harder two-digit-multiplier sheets will demand: straight columns, small carries, one place at a time.

- The hundreds: 3 × 2 = 6. Write the 6.
- The thousands: 1 × 2 = 2. Nothing further to carry into, so all of 2 is written down.
