What's on this sheet

Each row gives a number and a long line, and the child lists all of its factors from one up to the number itself. Because the answer is a set rather than a single value, the task rewards a system: check each candidate in turn, and pair them up (1 and the number, 2 and its partner, and so on) so none are missed. The answer key prints the full factor list for every number.

Why this sheet works

Listing factors quietly teaches divisibility and sets up everything that follows. A child who can rattle off the factors of 24 is ready to compare two lists for a greatest common factor, to spot prime numbers — the ones with only two factors — and to see why some numbers break into many pieces and others into few.
