RoundingTo the nearest tenth
Round each number to the nearest tenth.
Rounding a decimal is the same rule as rounding a whole number, with one new thing to get used to: the digits that go away are not replaced by zeros. These free printable worksheets round two-place decimals to one place.
If they get stuck

The answer key prints on a separate page.
The hundredths digit decides. 65.48 becomes 65.5 because of the 8, and 61.74 becomes 61.7 because of the 4. A child who has rounded whole numbers will want to write zeros at the end, and 65.50 is not wrong in value, but the job here is to stop at the tenths place.
The carrying cases are the ones to watch. 54.98 rounds up past the point and lands on 55, and the answer key writes it as 55 rather than 55.0. It looks as though a digit has disappeared, so it is worth saying out loud that 55 and 55.0 are the same number.
