What's on this sheet

Five is half of ten, so 725 ÷ 5 is 725 × 2 ÷ 10 = 1450 ÷ 10 = 145. Twenty-five is a quarter of a hundred, so 2375 ÷ 25 is 2375 × 4 ÷ 100 = 9500 ÷ 100 = 95. Both trade a hard division for a doubling and a shift of place value.

Why this sheet works

Dividing by 4 is halving twice: 228 ÷ 4 goes 228 → 114 → 57. Halving is the one division every child can already do in their head, and doing it twice is far easier than recalling a four-times-table fact for a three-digit number.
