Multiplication by 11 worksheets

The elevens are the friendliest table to look at: for the first nine facts, you just write the digit twice. These free printable worksheets cover the whole eleven times table, 11 × 1 through 11 × 12 — a grade 3–4 step beyond the core grid.

What's on this sheet

For n from one to nine, 11 × n is simply the digit written twice: 11 × 4 = 44, 11 × 7 = 77, 11 × 9 = 99. That is the whole trick, and it makes the first nine facts the easiest on any multiplication page — a child usually finishes that stretch faster than they can for the twos.

Why this sheet works

The facts worth actually learning are the last three, where the pattern quietly stops. 11 × 10 = 110 is still tidy, but 11 × 11 = 121 and 11 × 12 = 132 are the two that need real attention. This page locks every problem to the eleven times table, so those harder facts come around often enough to stick rather than getting lost in a mixed sheet.

How this one works

One question from this sheet, worked through a step at a time.

11 × 11

11×11
11 × 11=11 × 11
11 × 5=55
11 × 6=66
55+66=121
11×11=121
  1. 11 × 11 means 11 groups with 11 in each one — 11 rows of 11. The answer counts everything in all of them, not one row.
  2. Added up, that is 11 written 11 times — nobody wants to do that. Turn it round: 11 × 11 is the same amount, and it is only 11 lots of 11 to add instead.
  3. If 11 × 11 will not come, split the 11 at five: 11 × 5 = 55, and 11 × 6 = 66. Together that is 55 + 66 = 121.
  4. So 11 × 11 = 121.
