Split every thirteen into a ten and a three. 13 × 7 is 10 × 7 = 70 plus 3 × 7 = 21, which makes 91. Both halves are facts a child answers without thinking, so the only new work is one addition — and that addition is where the practice actually goes.
Why this sheet works
The facts that trip children up are the ones where the addition carries: 13 × 8 = 80 + 24 = 104 and 13 × 9 = 90 + 27 = 117. Past ten the ten-part grows a digit, so 13 × 12 = 120 + 36 = 156 and 13 × 15 = 150 + 45 = 195. Once those land, 13 × 13 = 169 is worth keeping as a fact on its own.
