About this worksheet

Start by naming what the table already is. A child who can answer "what is double seven?" can answer 7 × 2 — the fact is in place and only the notation is new. Saying that out loud converts a page of unfamiliar symbols into a page of things they can already do, which is a much better first encounter with times tables than rote chanting.

The two times table is also where the even numbers come from. Every answer on the page lands on 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and onward, which is the same sequence a child met in skip counting, and noticing that connection makes the table feel like a pattern rather than ten separate items to memorize.

Every problem here is fixed on the factor 2, so the whole page drills one table instead of scattering across many. Print with the answer key, change the theme or question count, or reopen the exact same sheet later from its picnic basket code.
