The answer key prints on a separate page.
Each object begins at the zero mark, which keeps the first page focused on the central measurement idea: length is the distance from one endpoint to the other. The child follows the ruler to the far end of a key, pencil, spoon, or other familiar object and writes the number of centimeters. The objects and ruler are drawn together, so there is no hidden alignment step and no need to find classroom supplies before beginning.
Print scaling matters here in a way it does not for an ordinary number worksheet. The page is authored for Letter or A4 paper and should be printed at actual size rather than fitted to a different sheet. A separate answer page shows each exact length, while the picnic basket code reopens the same objects and measurements if the practice needs to be repeated.
